Verizon Wireless Rebuilds Green Tech Store on Ruins of Flood-Damaged Predecessor

When the storm hit R.I., 5 months back, Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless’ store in Warwick Commons suffered extensive damage during the floods. The Company temporarily relocated its operations inside a brick-and-mortar location on the premises, and took up a plan to rebuild a new permanent state-of-the-art location at its previous site in just five months. And nation’s most reliable provider of voice and 3G data network, kept to its promise. Through a recent press release, the company announced the opening of its latest “green” Communications store in Warwick, Rhode Island, located at 399 Bald Hill Road in the Warwick Commons shopping plaza.

The rebuilt storefront is specifically designed to meet wind deflection, R-value insulating and UV reflection specifications given Warwick's climate and proximity to weather generated by the Atlantic Ocean.

This sprawling, 4,000 square foot “green” store utilizes state-of-the-art design to improve energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions, indoor air quality and recycling processes. The store marks a significant achievement in environmental building design and is expected to meet the United States Green Building Council's (USGBC) criteria for LEED(R) (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification.

Local residents and visitors are expected to find here the full array of Verizon Wireless products and services, including the entire line of DROID smartphones such as the Motorola Droid2 and DroidX, Incredible by HTC (News - Alert), LG Ally and Fathom, as well as Blackberry and Palm smartphones, netbooks, Mi-Fi devices and accessories.

The Warwick Commons store also includes:

*Interactive product and service demos available throughout the store

*Integrated systems and operational enhancements designed to streamline the sales process and increase customer satisfaction

*A check-in kiosk inviting customers to sign in on arrival and stay informed via monitors that track their place in the queue for service

*Roomy and easy-to-locate technical assistance and customer support areas

“We are excited by the opening of our first 'green' store in New England. Although difficult to envision at the height of the flooding, just five months later we've completely rebuilt and upgraded to better serve customers and enhance the retail experience. The conservation measures employed in the design and operation of the Warwick Commons location will help protect the environment today and conserve resources for generations to come,” Ken Dixon, president of Verizon Wireless in the New England Region, said.
