Airbiquity, a global provider of connected vehicle solutions, recently announced that it is cooperating with Shell to act as the solution integrator for the telematics element of Shell's new fuel management solution for commercial transport fleet operators: 'Shell FuelSave Partner.'

Airbiquity closely worked with Shell to develop and test vital components of Shell FuelSave Partner. This new fuel management solution automatically connects Shell fuel cards of the customers with technology installed in the vehicle and a central database. This will help the customers to save up to 10 percent on fuel and better manage their fuel-related CO2 emissions. It is a unique fuel management system that can automatically calculate fuel-related CO2 emissions on a per ton-km basis.

The pan-European infrastructure of Airbiquity will support Shell FuelSave Partner as the company positions in various European markets right through 2010.

Kamyar Moinzadeh, the CEO and President of Airbiquity, said, "Today's announcement illustrates Airbiquity's expertise as a leading provider of comprehensive connected vehicle solutions that offer tangible, quantifiable value. Reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions while also improving efficiencies is paramount for all companies. Being selected to support Shell in achieving this is especially rewarding for Airbiquity."

As the telematics solution integrator for Shell FuelSave Partner, the key components of the telematics service such as installation and wireless provisioning will be managed by Airbiquity. This builds upon Airbiquity's proven history of designing and delivering connected vehicle solutions for global automotive and transport companies.

Airbiquity designs, operates and manages the connectivity infrastructure. Currently, with 13 million vehicles on the road, the company's expertise and experience will help intelligent transportation services to compete in the automotive and mobile resource management industries.

"We know how tight the margins can be for our transport customers, so we're always looking at ways to help them manage fuel costs," said Ruth Cairnie, Vice President for Commercial Fuels, Shell. "Shell FuelSave Partner can help deliver savings of up to 10 percent, but it also supports customers in monitoring fuel-related CO2 emissions in a way that makes them more manageable. This can be an important benefit for fleet managers who are under pressure to reduce their fleets' environmental impact."
