Carl Ford (News - Alert)sat down with Renu Mobile's founder Carol Glennon at CTIA 2010 to discuss mobile advertising.
Glennon's company provides marketing and advertising services for the mobile phone including: mobile Web, text messaging, mobile barcodes and social media.
'We're able to put very effective messages on mobile phones, Glennon said during the videotaped interview.
And the company touts its environmentally friendly alternatives to print media advertising - including test message mass alerts, on-package text campaign, on phone coupons, and a store locator service. There's little paper generated and far less waste.
They also recently announced a joint venture with NeoMedia to allow clients to create 2-D mobile barcode campaigns.
'2-D bar codes are cutting edge technology for pharmaceutical companies, publishers and defense contractors - any on the fly situations where a small graphical area can include a lot of embedded information,' Glennon said of the barcodes.
Consumers scan the bar code and are redirected to mobile Web sites or receive text message coupons, she said.
'Consumers are beginning to understand that when they see that box to scan it with their phone,' Glennon added.
