Cree Inc., a provider of LED lighting, has announced the commercial availability of the award-winning XLamp XP-G LED in warm and neutral-white color palates.
The XP-G promises to be the industry’s “brightest and highest-efficiency lighting-class” LEDs, and will extend the highest level of light output and efficacy across the white color spectrum. This augurs well for applications such as LED replacement lamps, outdoor area and commercial luminaires.
Accelerating the LED lighting revolution by pushing through performance milestones, the new XP-G LED not only meets but exceeds the existing ENERGY STAR (News - Alert)luminaire and lamp requirements.
The cool white XP-G LED hits 132 and 139 lumens per watt when driven at 350mA. When driven at 1.5 A, the same Xlamp produces 463 lumens. This is four times the light output of the Xlamp XR-E cool white LED at equal efficacy.
Similarly, the Warm white Xlamp XP-G hits 114 lumens and 109 lumens when driven at 350mA, and 285 lumens at 84 lumens per watt, when driven at 1.0A. This is also four times the light output than the highest available XLamp XR-E warm-white LED at equal efficacy.
“We are excited to be working with the newest Cree (News - Alert)XP-G LEDs,” Bob Fugerer, president, Sunovia Energy Technologies Inc., said.
Fugerer further added that the extremely high efficacy levels enabled Cree to offer Aimed Optics, luminaires in a neutral color, while maintaining the same pace-setting mounting-height-to-pole-spacing ratio and fitted target efficiency that Cree had previously achieved with cool-white color temperatures.
“Cree is once again setting industry-leading efficacy levels in warm and neutral white,” Cree director of marketing, LED Components, Paul Thieken, said.
Thieken was confident that the new XP-G LEDs would enable the production of LED lighting products that not only met but exceeded the current ENERGY STAR luminaire and lamp requirements, as Cree was accelerating the LED lighting revolution by pushing through performance milestones.
As XP-G LEDs delivered high efficacy at high current, it potentially reduced the required number of LEDs, as well as the size and cost of LED fixtures.
Neutral-white and warm-white XP-G LEDs are commercially available now in the industry’s smallest ANSI-based chromaticity bins.
Cree is prominent in the LED lighting revolution and setting the stage to obsolete the incandescent light bulb through the use of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly LED lighting. Cree is an innovator of lighting-class LEDs, LED lighting, and semiconductor solutions for wireless and power applications.
Cree solutions are driving improvements in applications such as general illumination, backlighting, electronic signs and signals, variable-speed motors, and wireless communications.
In an effort to become a greener, more energy-efficient hotel, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort has installed LED lighting by Cree Inc.
