Puronics' Water Conditioner Technology Recognized by Frost & Sullivan

Puronics, Inc., a provider of water treatment equipment, announced that on the basis of its analysis of the water-treatment market, Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) has recognized it with the 2010 U.S. Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation.

Frost & Sullivan presents this award to a company once every year that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its industry. The recipient company needs to have shown innovation by launching a broad line of emerging products and technologies.

Clarius, an eco-friendly water conditioner offered by Puronics, integrates the advanced technology of its HYgene Bacteriostat, with a new green technology. The company had launched the new appliance in July 2008 and it became the third best-selling product of Puronics, grabbed a 12.7 percent share of its unit sales by December 2009.

Traditional water softeners purify the water by adding salt, potassium, or chemicals, while Clarius features a filter media tank that is made of food grade 316L stainless steel, offering a sanitary, non-permeable surface for processing water. It is equipped with a lead-free brass control valve lending durability and corrosion resistance to the system, while its automatic backwash keeps the filter media bed clean and ready for operation.
It features a HYgene filter media that reduces objectionable chlorine tastes and odors. Impressed with the effectiveness of the technology, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has used HYgene PureSilver in its Space Shuttle Orbiters.

According to Shilpa Tiku, research analyst Frost & Sullivan, “Purifexmedia uses green technology to condition water, while leaving healthy minerals such as calcium and magnesium in the water. Tiku continued that the system effectively removes suspended solids as small as 5 microns and the water is polished by silica gravel.”

Usually, the residential water treatment market is considered to be rather homogenous while innovative technologies and superior product quality are helpful for the customers in differentiating a product in the segment. In the contrast, Puronics offers value-added features and services, and provides a lifetime warranty for its products and has a relationship with a major bank that offers consumer financing to its dealers. These initiatives have helped Clarius in earning positive feedback from company’s customers.

Tiku noted that Puronics, Incorporated has introduced novel technologies to stay ahead of the race, and the company is well poised to maintain its technological superiority in the U.S. residential water treatment market, setting performance standards for the entire industry.

In February 2010, Frost & Sullivan awarded its 2009 North American Portfolio Leadership of the Year Award in Mobile Resource Management to AT&T (News - Alert), which is a global provider of solutions designed to automate MRM and has more than a century of experience in this field.
