Call Center Furniture Not New to the 'Green' World

By Stefania Viscusi

Aside from symbolizing money and the direction of "go", green has taken on an entirely new meaning in today's world. Across industries the awareness of environmental responsibilities is on the rise and green technologies and solutions are creating a buzz for their ability to help increase environmental improvements.

Today, 'going green' means choosing environmentally-friendly solutions that help companies take responsibility for the environment.

And while 'going green' may be a concept that’s growing in importance, keeping the environment top of mind is not a new importance for all.

Interior Concepts, a provider of call center furniture as well as furniture for office and educational facilities, not only believes in providing solutions that are friendly to the environment but have an environmental policy in place to ensure their environmental responsibilities.

The complete policy can be accessed via their website www.interiorconcepts.com

Building on opportunities to "reduce, reuse and recycle," the company's policy states the use of "only the materials, energy and human resources needed to produce a particular component or product." As an example, cutting all plastic components to the exact size required helps to reduce "spoilage". Also the company notes delivering products to customers with the least packaging materials (like cardboard, plastics and films) used, and instead delivers workstations on pallets and/or blanket wrapped.

According to their policy statement this "reduces the amount of shipments we would have to use if we shipped our products mostly assembled. This in turn, reduces the amount of petroleum fuels we use and allows us to enjoy the benefits of pooled shipments."

Other ways in which they achieve this is by utilizing products that are already made with recycled materials. This reduces the amount of 'virgin' materials needed in manufacturing.

The policy also points out that most of Interior Concepts fabrics carry the Green-e certification.

Green-e is an independent certification and verification program for renewable energy and companies that use renewable energy. The certification means that 100 percent of the energy used to make their products is matched by Green-e certified renewable energy certificates.
