ICF International Expands to 'Green Workforce' Development

ICF International (News - Alert), a global professional services firm offering energy and social program consulting, is expanding into the area of “green workforce” development.

The company, working with teams of nonprofit organizations, recently was awarded three federally funded workforce development grants with an estimated value to ICF International of $5.1 million, ICF officials said.

ICF International has expertise in workforce development, human services for disadvantaged populations, grants management, and operational aspects of green industries. With these, the company helps organizations create sustainable jobs in green occupations.

The company partners with government and commercial clients to deliver professional services and technology solutions in different areas such as energy and climate change, environment and infrastructure, health, human services and social programs and homeland security and defense markets.

By facilitating green workforce development, ICF International reduces unemployment. Also, by working on efforts to apply alternative energy sources, the company eases the U.S. dependence on foreign sources of energy and improves the environment.

Under the three recently awarded grants, ICF International will perform a variety of tasks: training workers for green jobs, identifying drivers of green job growth, and developing and revising green job training curricula, company officials said.

“ICF provides diverse subject matter experts and functional skill sets that will enable individuals to prepare for new opportunities in the rapidly growing green industries,” said Robert Kwartin, vice president for ICF International. “People want to get back to work with good pay and job security.”

“Green jobs offer both. ICF is helping to create the programs that will give people a path into the new green economy,” Kwartin added.

Recently, ICF closed the acquisition of Jacob & Sundstrom, an information technology firm specializing in providing cyber security and identity management services to U.S. federal civilian and defense agencies.

With this acquisition, ICF is able to offer an expanded range of advisory and implementation solutions across its federal and energy industry client base to assist in mitigating emerging cyber security threats and vulnerabilities, company officials said.
