National Technical Systems, a provider of engineering services to the defense, aerospace, telecommunications, automotive and high technology segments, reportedly announced that it was chosen by the General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Division of San Diego, Calif. to undertake testing of electromagnetic compatibility and environmental testing of its Advanced Arresting Gear and the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System.
The General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Division awarded multiple contracts to National Technical System auctioning the same.

Alert) to prop up the environmental qualification testing at GA's EMS production and testing units at Tupelo, Miss. A few of the tests are being carried out at the moment at Joint Base McGuire-Dix - Lakehurst, N.J. site. Here, comprehensive EMALS and AAG systems are deployed and outfitted by GA- EMS and the Navy. The EMALS and AAG clientele includes the Naval Air Systems Command.

Alert) test designing and assessment for AAG and EMALS systems. These systems will be set up on CVN 78. In all the contracts awarded by the GA EMS to NTS are expected to be worth approximately $4.5 million. NTS will perform testing and evaluation will be performed at two levels- the major assembly level and component level. An additional level of testing will be carried out at the NTS facilities situated in Santa Clarita and Fullerton, Calif. Boxborough, Mass. and Tinton Falls, N.J. NTS assets will undertake to sustain the testing and assessment agenda over the next couple of years.
The EMALS system uses a high voltage transformer rectifier produced by Neeltran, high power inverters put forth by GA EMS, a high capacity motor generator to stock up power produced by Kato and a rectifier manufactured by L-3 Pulse (

Alert) Power Division. A total of four linear induction motors released in the market by GA EMS will speed up the take off of the latest airplanes from a complete halt to roughly 150 knots in a maximum of 3 seconds.
In addition, NTS uses an international framework of resources to deliver extensive product life cycle backend maintenance and also provide high quality design manufacturing, compliance testing, accreditation and quality listing and program administration.
