Polycom's Video Conferencing Systems Reduce FVC's Carbon Footprint, Reduce Expenses

FVC, a rich media solutions provider, was recently won the “Green System Implementation of the Year,” award, after the company successfully implemented Polycom’s (News - Alert) systems including video conferencing and audio conferencing.

The award recognized the reduction of 63 tonnes of carbon emissions by FVC along with the company’s $250,000 savings during the course of one year.

Dharmendra Parmar, general manager for Marketing at FVC, said that, as a leading business in the Middle East and North America regions, the company has a responsibility to future generations to safeguard a company plan and lead by example.

“Like any other business, we wanted to save money and the environment and create a better work-life balance, leading to a decrease in stress and better performances among our employees,” Parmar said. “Polycom not only provides an excellent platform for communications for businesses but it helped us to illustrate the positive implications of using rich media by reducing travel time and carbon emissions.”

FVC’s professional portfolio stems into a large geographical basis; from the United Arab Emirates to Saudi Arabia to Lebanon to Egypt to Morocco and the United Kingdom.

According to FVC officials, stemmed from the growing interest in environmental impact of frequent flying or driving several hours, the company felt the need to look for a greener alternative to stay in touch with its employees and partners in all these areas.

Polycom’s systems did more than just save time and money.

By implementing Polycom’s video and audio conferencing systems, FVC employees were able to reduce the amount of carbon emissions by travelling to offices and meetings less, and utilizing Polycom’s video conferencing solutions more and, thus, limit FVC’s carbon footprint.

And, with the decrease in travel costs for meetings in the last year, FVC saved roughly $250,000 that would otherwise be used for employees travel expenses.
