Sprint Delivers Green Communications for Universities

Sprint has announced it is teaming with educational leaders such as The University of Arizona “UA” to deliver eco-friendly communications products.

A number of universities across the nation use the company’s communications solutions available on the NOW Network to offer benefits such as increased productivity, reduced costs and a unique learning experience for students and staff.

Ed Davalos, director of education for Sprint (News - Alert), noted that universities play an important leadership role in raising environmental awareness and in adopting sustainable practices.

Sprint will specifically help UA by making it easier for their students and staff to “go green” through innovative offerings and opportunities including new eco-friendly products like the Samsung (News - Alert) Reclaim, the first phone in the United States constructed from eco-friendly bio-plastic material.

The company is also offering Sprint Buyback and Sprint Project Connect- two free and easy wireless equipment collection and recycling programs that allow universities to sell Sprint their unused wireless equipment that still has value. This equipment is then recycled or reused. Sprint also accepts and recycles wireless phones and equipment with no value and proceeds are used for Internet safety education.

“We are extremely excited about our mutually beneficial partnership with Sprint that helps support common goals of sustainability and the community interest in being socially responsible,” said Frank Farias, executive director of the UA BookStore.

Fayetteville State University also chose Sprint to improve coverage and capacity issues and help their staff to have a single number that could route calls anywhere.
