Alert) officials said that by working together, SAIC and BPLG will focus on addressing the entire life cycle of utility customer needs through the intelligent transformation of electrical network and utility operations.
Officials said that from strategy consulting to large-scale solution deployments, SAIC and BPLG will market a holistic approach to addressing energy, environment, infrastructure and sustainability challenges.
“This investment and our strategic alliance with BPLG represent further strides in SAIC’s strategy to provide life-cycle capabilities to the rapidly evolving power industry, following our recent acquisition of R.W. Beck Group, Inc.,” said J.T. Grumski, senior vice president and business unit general manager, SAIC, in a statement.
Grumski said that the company looks forward to integrating a number of SAIC’s capabilities into the PowerSG platform and further expanding our support to this growing market.
SAIC is a scientific, engineering, and technology applications company that uses its deep domain knowledge to solve problems of vital importance to the nation and the world, in national security, energy and the environment, critical infrastructure, and health.
“We are at an inflection point for the smart grid industry,” said Keith Schaefer, CEO of BPL Global.
Schaefer said that stimulus funding in the U.S. and countries around the world has significantly increased the number and size of grid modernization projects.
He said that SAIC, with a rich legacy of innovation and strong presence in the electric utility industry is well positioned to contribute to the development and deployment of smart grid technology on a global scale.

Corning Incorporated’s telecommunications segment and a major player in end-to-end fiber optic and copper products had
announced that they will cooperate to leverage their industry expertise jointly in the EMEA region.
Through this cooperation, the companies will promote the advantages of building efficiency management solutions to utilities and carriers that are deploying fiber-to-the-home solutions.
The cooperation will leverage leading technologies from both companies including Power SG Building Efficiency Management from BPLG and Corning ClearCurve single-mode bend-insensitive optical fiber.
The first product to be manufactured and offered by BPLG will be incorporating BPLG’s Power SG Building Efficiency Management solution in the Corning Evolant Modular Basement Distribution Terminal, an integral part of Corning’s Ascend Multi-Dwelling Unit System.
