Green Technology -IP Infusion Joins The Green Grid

IP Infusion (News - Alert) has announced its membership in The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.

IP Infusion is an ACCESS company and provider of intelligent software for Next Generation Network equipment manufacturers and converged IP service providers. IP Infusion said that by joining The Green Grid (News - Alert), it’s helping influence both developers and end users of data center technology.

As a general member of The Green Grid, IP Infusion is expected to participate in the development of metrics and measurements that will help advance energy efficiency in data centers worldwide.

The Green Grid seeks to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will help improve overall data center and business computing energy efficiencies.

“With tighter cost controls due to today's economic slowdown, companies need to look at their infrastructure to reduce their equipment and energy footprint,” Koichi Narasaki (News - Alert), president and CEO at IP Infusion, said.

According to Narasaki, with the implementation of company’s ZebOS software, IP Infusion customers can save precious energy dollars by reducing their requirements for additional network equipment through more effective routing and switching software.

IP Infusion’s ZebOS Network Platform provides mechanisms to virtualize network elements. Company officials said that this allows their customers to develop energy efficient systems.

In the newest version ZebOS 7.7, the virtualization support has been expanded and now includes a complete suite of virtualization technologies that are unique to IP Infusion.

Virtualization allows companies to optimize network equipment by partitioning the equipment to run ZebOS software on one piece of hardware versus several. This save on the amount of hardware equipment required, which in turn saves on energy and space requirements, said officials.

In September, IP Infusion announced the establishment of a technical assistance center in Nanjing, China. The center provides local language support for IP Infusion customers in China.
