3Com's H3C Networking Solutions Chosen by PSA Peugeot Citroen

3Com Corporation, a provider of networking solutions, has reportedly signed a new agreement with PSA Peugeot Citroën in France, a company which has nearly 5 percent of the worldwide car market, for using 3Com’s (News - Alert) H3C enterprise networking solutions as a significant part of its LAN infrastructure.

H3C is a brand of 3Com that offers high-performance networking and security solutions to enterprises large and small. The H3C enterprise networking portfolio in China includes products that span from the data center to the edge of the network. Back in May 2009, 3Com had announced the availability of its portfolio of H3C networking solutions worldwide through selected channel partners.

As mentioned, PSA Peugeot Citroën has chosen 3Com’s H3C solution to help reduce network installation and usage costs and at the same time help the company to improve its network performance for new applications.

"With our H3C enterprise networking solutions, 3Com provides high-performance products that offer a rapid return on investment through great price/performance, strong manageability and low energy usage," said Bernard Etchebarne, 3Com general manager, EMEA South, in a release.

"3Com's H3C switches are also the most energy-efficient on the market, using up to 60 percent less power than competitive networking solutions. This supports PSA Peugeot Citroën's ‘green' objectives. Regarding emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, PSA Peugeot Citroën is the most efficient carmaker in Europe, with nearly one million vehicles emitting less than 130 g/km of CO2 in 2008. Today, roughly one in three vehicles sold by the Group emits less than 130 g/km of CO2," added Etchebarne.

3Com Corporation is a global enterprise networking solutions provider that has three global brands H3C, 3Com, and TippingPoint which is said to offer high-performance networking and security solutions to enterprises. TippingPoint network-based intrusion prevention systems and network access control solutions deliver application, infrastructure and performance protection.
