Entuity has unveiled its Green IT Perspective solution to help organizations in their green initiatives. The solution can measure companies’ operational costs and savings opportunities for network devices, servers, and workstations and thereby helping them to chart out policies that would provide optimal business outcomes.
Entuity provides integrated fault and performance management capabilities that help businesses reduce network downtime, commit to, deliver and prove service level commitments, and ensure network configuration compliance.
The Green IT Perspective is a network management solution focused on Green IT for use with Entuity’s Eye of the Storm (EYE) solution. According to the company, EYE network management suite enables clients to quickly and materially reduce costs, and to deliver and prove the service levels expected by their customers.
Officials say that info such as operational costs and saving opportunities can be used by organizations to develop corporate Green IT strategies, manage actual program progress, and deliver tangible results through flexible, compelling reports.
EYE along with Green IT Perspective helps companies design, implement and track corporate Green IT initiatives. It includes a customizable dashboard and integration area for policies, reports, reference materials, real-time statistics, communities, wikis, and other materials to keep employees knowledgeable and green initiatives on track. The Dashboard offers users a community-driven integration point with a heads-up display of real-time information based on personalization of different green information resources, allowing users to mix and match data to create versatile reports that address business needs.
The features incorporated into Green IT Perspective are Power rating – to help companies calculate the amount of power consumed by network devices and sort out the one that wasted energy; Underutilized Servers – the solution can figure out operating characteristics of servers, providing insight into inefficiencies for better application deployment, resource allocation, etc and Shutdown Policy Conformance – for IT managers to monitor which departments are complying or ignoring shutdown policies along with their associated costs through real-time dashboard alerts or reports.
Michael Jannery, President and CEO of Entuity said, “Using Green IT Perspective, IT departments can rest assured that their budgets and technologies are being allocated most efficiently. Because service providers and enterprise IT staff can now rate and identify devices based on energy usage, they have the ability to make intelligent decisions regarding which to load to capacity and which to replace with more efficient alternatives. In today’s economic climate, this is incredibly useful.”
