Revinetix Data Protection Appliance Now Supports Green

Revinetix, the company that offers backup and recovery technology solutions for small and medium size businesses (SMBs), said its desktop data protection appliance, Volo, is going Green with its new smart power-saving strategy.

Revinetix has been offering its backup appliances solutions under the brands Volo and Sentio. The Volo Pro comes in a desktop form factor chassis with storage capacity of up to 750 Gigabites (GB) and the rack-mount Sentio line supports up to 40 Terabites (TB) of raw data. The company’s operating system, RevOS, manages and automates backup, archive and recovery functions through a simple-to-use Web 2.0 browser-based administration interface.

The improved Volo incorporates the smallest and lowest power processor, the new Atom processor from Intel which results in a 14 percent energy conservation over the previous version of the Volo.

"Energy conservation is of great importance to both our company culture and product development strategy," said Lou Banks, product manager, Revinetix.

"The Volo is our latest green technology that supports our vision to create new power efficient hardware and software to help SMBs and SMEs with their efforts to further reduce their carbon footprint and protect our environment."

The new improved Volo data protecting software delivers high-performance data backup with just minimal energy to operate. It consumes only 60 watts of electricity, around 525 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, said the company.

Additionally, Volo is supported by the RevOS along with de-duplication functionality that can reduce data storage by an average of 10 percent.

Measuring just 8.9" x 7.9" x 13", Volo is ideally suited for remote offices. The Volo is available in two configurations: 250GB and 750GB capacities in a RAID protected array. Volo is available at a starting price of $2,595.
