Green Technology -Intelligent Living Goes Green

Intelligent Living Corp. has announced that all their projects will now make use of green building practices. The projects include commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-unit constructions and major renovations.

Green building increases the efficiency with which buildings use resources like energy, water, and materials and focuses on reducing building impacts on human health and for the environment during the building's lifecycle. This is achieved through better design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal.

Intelligent Living states that Green buildings are kind to the environment, and provide healthy, comfortable, productive indoor spaces.

Officials also said that green construction methods can be integrated into buildings at any stage, from design and construction, to renovation and deconstruction. However, the most significant benefits can be obtained if the design and construction team takes an integrated approach from the earliest stages of a building project.

Michael Holloran, President and CEO of Intelligent Living commented, "The environmental impact of buildings is often underestimated, while the perceived costs of green buildings are overestimated. Buildings used 40 percent of the total energy consumed in both the US and European Union and account for 12 percent of the total amount of water consumed per day in the United States."

"Cost effective strategies for reducing the amount of energy and natural resources buildings consume and the amount of pollution given off are seen as crucial for future livability and sustainability," he said.

"We believe that reliable cost effective automation strategies can enable and enhance the energy reduction and sustainability potential inherent in green building practices. These strategies are now a standard feature of our projects."

Green Building practices can help organizations achieve reduced operating costs by increasing productivity and optimizing life-cycle economic performance. Also, it can improve the work environment in such a way that resources are not overused – and will ultimately reduce the companies’ carbon footprint.

Analysts say green building design is a growing trend within the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, urban planning, engineering, graphic design, industrial design, interior design and fashion design.
