ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN Completes Successful One Year

Eco-friendly swimwear brand ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN had a successful year and is celebrating this occasion.

The company, which is leading ecological initiatives that promise to reduce the carbon footprint in the sand, experienced higher than expected sales and overwhelming support during its first year in stores. “What started as a simple idea has turned into an incredible brand with an instant following,” said Alex Waldman of ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN.

The company dived in to the swimwear designing business after Waldman and his team observed both the growing trend toward environmentally friendly apparel and the parallel increase in the amount of pollution ending up in the ocean every year.

“As a swimwear brand, caring about the oceans is ingrained both in our culture and in our consumer's mind. So when the technology to turn PET water bottles and old nylon into swimsuit textiles became viable,” explained Waldman. “We saw a hole in the market for sustainable, upcycled swimwear that didn't sacrifice style, and we pounced,”

The technology of making brand of yarn from both pre- and post-consumer recycled waste was initiated by Repreve, one of ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN's environmental partners.

“The ‘first quality’ recycled fibers available from Repreve have only recently become viable, and their innovative technology makes it possible for ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN to produce swimsuits that are as stylish and soft as they are sustainable,” said Waldman.

ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN has also joined hands with a second partner, United By Blue (UBB), a brand of ocean-friendly apparel that removes one pound of trash from oceans and waterways for every product sold.

UBB has worked with ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN to co-host two cleanups that removed over 3,000 pounds of trash from the Delaware River in 2011.

“We're grateful that we were able to host 2 cleanups with UBB, community volunteers, and our employees, and we're looking forward to hosting 12 more cleanups in 2012,” said Waldman.

ECO SWIM BY AQUA GREEN officials even conveyed their thanks to those who volunteered their time at cleanups and their employees for being so engaged with the company's on-site recycling facilities and for taking the company culture to the next level.
