Valkeakoski Workshop from Metso Paper Sold to MSP Engineering and Hanlog



Metso Paper, a global supplier of pulp-making, papermaking, board-making and tissue-making lines, announced that it has sold its Valkeakoski workshop, a Finland -based workshop manufacturing equipment and screen basket, to MSP Engineering, evaluators for engineering design, project management, and construction of mineral processing facilities and associated infrastructure, and Hanlog, an International procurement logistics company. The company did not disclose any information about the value of the deal.

After the sale of the Valkeakoski workshop, Metso will not be impacted in anyway. Under the terms of the deal, 76 personnel of the Valkeakoski workshop will be transferred to the new employer and serve as existing employees. Currently, more than 300 people are employed at the workshop.

Furthermore, the terms of the sale agreement specify that the workshop, the maintenance hall real estate as well as all associated manufacturing machinery and equipment will be sold. Metso will also be selling the office premises, as well as all the land used for running the workshop. MSP Engineering and Hanlog will however, continue to be contract manufacturers of Metso.

To deal with the highly competitive nature of the global market, Metso decided on the sale. The deal is a part of the pulp, paper, and power business segment of Metso which has been working toward further developing its production structure to ensure a more robust customer service offering for its clients.
