The North America Information Technology Asset Disposition (ITAD) 2011 Magic Quadrant has been impressed by HOBI International's mobile device services, innovative solutions and customer service. Hence, it has positioned the asset management and electronics recycling company in its “Challengers” Quadrant.
The Magic Quadrant for North America ITAD assesses the marketplace and the capabilities of the leading North America-based vendors.
ITAD vendors are evaluated on the basis of their capability to execute and the extent and completeness of their vision. By assessing them on these criteria, Gartner (News
- Alert) is able to analyze performances of providers over a spectrum of services vis-a-vis their peers and also how well providers will fare in the competitive IT vendor market over a period of time.
The report goes on to describe the evolving ITAD sector to accommodate the changing needs of user organizations and highlights the two primary risks associated with ITAD: “data security and the disposition of e-waste.” It also examines the need for comprehensive legislative mandates and penalties for non-compliance.
As a result, the report notes that IT asset managers are more closely evaluating their ITAD processes and providers. Executives responsible for ITAD have begun to realize that ITAD's cost-revenue equation isn't as healthy as it should actually be.
According to Gartner, HOBI “exhibits strong operational capabilities, has adequate service offerings and executes quite well overall.”HOBI is an R2 and ISO14001 certified firm.
Although HOBI is essentially a full-service ITAD service supplier, its mobile devices services group processess over four million cell phones annually and it has a strong focus on resale and recycling of cellular assets. Moreover, it has developed an indigenous NIST 800-88 compliant erasure technology to erase hard drives and information on cell phones and tablet devices. According to customer feedback, HOBI is flexible, responsive and management accessible.
“HOBI's inclusion in Gartner’s report reaffirms our mission to be a best-in-class ITAD provider,” said Craig Boswell, HOBI International president. “Our clients are concerned with proper asset management and data security, and HOBI is steadfast in exceeding their expectations while maximizing the return on both traditional IT assets and mobile devices.”
