It’s about the size of a “charge card” but it really packs a charge. Hudson, Massachusetts-based Power Partners, Inc has announced the availability of a power supply unit with an ultra-compact footprint of only 1.5 inches x 3.0 inches x 0.94 inches.
The PPWA40 Series provides up to 40 watts (W) of continuous output power and up to 50 W of peak power. These small, power-packed supplies are ideal for low-cost, low-power applications where space is at a premium such as for information technology equipment, instrumentation, or lighting units.
The PPWA40 Series has seven single output models with voltages ranging from 5VDC to 48VDC. Units are exceptionally efficient, with ratings of up to 91 percent. The specified operating temperature range is 0°C to +70°C, with derating (operation at less than maximum power in order to prolong life) above 50°C. Full power is achieved with convection cooling, eliminating any need for additional thermal components or fan cooling. The peak power rating allows the PPWA40 Series to be specified for applications that require a short cycle of peak power, without the need to invest in a more expensive, higher-power- rated supply.
The Power Partners’ PPWA40 Series is an open-frame constructed AC-DC switching power supply, with three different mechanical options: top pin or bottom pin PCB (printed circuit board) mount or chassis mount configurations. Comprehensive over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit protection are integral to the design. Units are EN55022 Class B compliant for radiated and conducted emissions, eliminating the need for any external filtering, conform to worldwide safety standards and are RoHS compliant.
The unit comes with a three-year warranty. Pricing starts at $20 in OEM quantities, with delivery from stock to 12 weeks after receipt of order.
