PEER 1 Hosting, a global IT hosting provider, sent a 'green message' by opening a new energy efficient facility in Langstone Technology Park that is expected to reduce the carbon footprint for its customers.
The 57,800 square foot green data center in Portsmouth, U.K. which is in close proximity to London, has 11 MVA of available power, room for 20,000 servers and offers security through biometric authentication, ultra sound technology and coordinated intruder alarms. Best of all, it provides a direct connection to PEER 1 Hosting's 10Gb FastFiber Network.
This new data center is expected to provide scalable managed hosting and colocation services to businesses of all sizes not only to London and the South East but also to Europe as well.
In a press release, Fabio Banducci, President and CEO of PEER 1 Hosting spoke about the scope of the new facility and said, "This new data center represents a significant investment for PEER 1in the U.K. and European markets. There is a shortage of green data center capacity in the region that creates a potential for growth."
In addition, users can also avail of the WiFi (News 
- Alert) conference rooms, the fitness center and the 150 seat auditorium, all of which offer work opportunities.
Claiming to the first in the world to use the energy efficient "Excool cooling system," the data center is expected to deliver Power Effectivenes Usage Rating of 1:!, which is well above the industry average of 1:8. The Excool cooling system harnesses the natural elements like air and water with the help of a super-efficient heat exchange system, low energy fans and water atomizers.
Dominic Monkhouse, EMEA managing director of PEER 1 Hosting commented on the new addition and said, "Data center demand shows no signs of slowing down. Our $70 million investment is testament to PEER 1 delivering the services that our customers need now and are going to need in future."
In related news, PEER 1 Hosting, the global online IT hositing provider announced that it had signed its 100th partner in EMEA since it began trading in that region in 2009. Seventy of these partners were from the U.K.
