Metso, a global provider of sustainable technology and services for mining, construction, power generation, automation, recycling and the pulp and paper industries, announced its multi-million contract to supply a coated board production line to International Paper & Sun Cartonboard in China.
Both the companies did not disclose the size of the order value. The estimated size of this kind of a production line is EUR 90-120 million, depending on the scope of the delivery and the production output.
As part of the contract, Metso will offer a complete coated board machine from headbox to winders, including stock preparation and approach flow systems, hoods with machine ventilation and coating color preparation systems.
The full-scope automation delivery to International Paper & Sun Cartonboard will include process, machine and quality controls, Web break monitoring and Web inspection as well condition monitoring.
The main part of the order is included in Paper and Fiber Technology's third quarter 2011 orders received and the automation delivery in Energy and Environmental Technology's third quarter 2011 orders received, according to a press statement.
The combined capacity of International Paper & Sun Cartonboard’s three machines is 850,000 t/y and the net sales in 2010 were about $700 million.
Recently, Metso announced that it will supply complete woodyard equipment and defibrator systems with chipwashers for the two new Medium Density Fiberboard projects of Duratex in Brazil, in a contract valued less than EUR 25 million. The equipment for the first project placed in Itapetininga, Sao Paulo, will be delivered in December 2011 and for the second project at a later date.
