Energate, a provider of residential demand response and home energy management solutions, has named Lisa V. Wood and John C. Fox to its board of directors as part of its plan to bolster utility industry expertise.
Energate claimed that its leadership team has extensive business experience plus a powerful combination of energy management and communications experience with a deep knowledge of in-home controls. The new directors supposedly bring with them extensive power sector knowledge to the fast growing provider of demand response and home energy management solutions.
Wood is the executive director of the Institute for Electric Efficiency (IEE), an electric utility industry organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency, demand response, and customer-side technologies and Fox is the senior managing director at Perseus, L.L.C., a merchant bank and private equity fund management company headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Officials with Energate commented that Wood and Fox bring tremendous industry insight to Energate's board of directors and the timing of their appointments couldn't be better given the company’s accelerating traction in the demand response and home energy management market. The company is fast becoming the premier provider of residential demand response and home energy management solutions, Energate will benefit greatly from their deep industry relationships and solid understanding of electric utilities.
Wood has expertise as an advisor to the Johnson Controls' Institute for Building Efficiency and is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University. A non-resident fellow of the Energy Security Initiative at the Brookings Institution she earned her Ph.D. in public policy and management from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Fox previously worked as a COO of Ontario Power Generation Inc., one of the largest electric utilities in North America and was the executive vice president of the Canyon Group, a Los Angeles-based marketing and management consultancy. A B.S. Civil engineering graduate from the University of Toronto, he also holds an M.B.A. from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
