AdInfa has announced the release of InSite, a technology solution which enables data centers to keep track of their IT equipment energy consumption, to help drive optimized operational efficiencies of data center clients. By leveraging InSite, data centers can effectively lower their energy consumption and reduce their carbon footprint as the system delivers automated SMS alerts over un-planned contingencies or issues that occur during the monitoring of their IT infrastructure equipment.
In a release, Philip Petersen, CEO of AdInfa said that, “AdInfa investigated SMS text message gateway providers in 2006 and after testing various scenarios decided to partner with BulkSMS.com. At first there were some concerns over the reliability and delivery of SMS compared to email but face to face, real-time demonstrations showed our customers that SMS alerts were clearly the way to go. We have found BulkSMS.com to be a very reliable service provider offering a service that is a vital part of delivering a great customer experience with InSite.”
The company's technology solution, which enables easy monitoring and management of core infrastructures via a web-based user interface, has already been successfully deployed across several medium sized and large sized organizations. In its initial stages, the company's clients were provided with InSite alerts over digital pagers. However, recognizing the flexibility of an SMS and email based alert system, AdInfa switched over to delivery of the alerts over mobile phones.
Petersen added that, “Using SMS messaging to deliver automated alerts has meant our customers have been able to save many thousands of Pounds in preventing unscheduled system downtime and breaches of Service Level Agreements with their customers as well as manage the carbon footprint of their data centre operations.”
To optimize its SMS alert system, AdInfa decided to use BulkSMS.com’s eAPI to prime its InSite software for SMS delivery as the API allows direct access to the BulkSMS.com SMS gateway which in turn enables seamless delivery of InSite system generated alerts to pre-arranged mobile numbers. The deployment of the InSite software system allows managers to easily create customized infrastructure monitoring reporting hierarchy within their organizations.
Dr. Pieter Streicher, managing director at BulkSMS.com said that, “As is clear from this case study of AdInfa’s InSite data centre energy management solution, SMS makes sense where technology providers are looking to provide real-time, system driven communications to their customers. This is especially applicable where parties are best contacted by mobile phone and the company needs to track and keep a digital record of all communications. AdInfa’s InSite solution does this in demonstrating how to green the future of IT.”
