KEMA, a provider of energy consulting, testing, and certification, announced that it selected Green Energy's GreenBus software platform for KEMA Smart Grid Interop (News - Alert) Lab.

Leveraging Green Energy Corp’s GreenBus platform, KEMA can become more efficient. KEMA will use GreenBus to implement a fully functional microgrid test bed.

Moreover, it enables KEMA to reduce operational costs by automating processes, capturing a higher volume of real-time grid operational data and allowing applications to securely share data.

KEMA’s Smart Grid Interop Lab facility offers independent verification of device interoperability. It also validates compliance of low-voltage automation devices, meters, and consumer products with evolving smart grid standards.

“KEMA is excited to put the GreenBus open, vendor agnostic architecture to use for our customers, because it allows applications to interoperate and access grid operations data in real time,” said Ron Chebra, vice president, KEMA, in a statement. ”The KEMA Smart Grid Interop Lab can emulate the utility's production environment at a fraction of the time and cost of a typical interoperability pilot.”

As per the agreement, Green Energy will design, develop, install, and support the monitoring and control of advanced power system applications.

“Using GreenBus at KEMA's Smart Grid Interoperability Lab will enable interoperability between applications and it will provide a platform for innovation, through advanced technologies and design, open-source-derived components, and vendor agnostic functionality,” said Roxy Podlogar, vice president of product strategy at Green Energy Corp. “This is where innovation begins for both vendors and power providers.”

Recently, Green Energy Corp. announced that it received $2 million in funding from the Colorado Governor's Energy Office Revolving Loan Fund. The fund has been awarded to Green Energy Corp under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
