SellandRecycle.com Urges Consumers to Support Obama's E-Waste Strategy

In everyday life, electronic devices like computers, laptops and cell phones have become indispensable. Many consumers have, however, questioned where these items end up after use. According to the EPA, most of these electronic materials end up in landfills. The government has now turned its attention to address the issue of proper e-waste management. An E-Waste Strategy has been defined by Obama. SellandRecycle.com has asked consumers to recycle and sell used cell phones in order to support this strategy.

Nearly 2.5 million tons of used electronics was generated by the country in 2010. This information was provided by EPA. Serious public health implications and environmental hazards can arise out this serious issue. Initiatives to promote responsible e-waste management and recycling are therefore being taken up by the U.S. Government.

The National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship has been created by the Government in July 2011. Apart from promoting responsible electronic design, the strategy will also promote recycling and e-waste management. Green jobs will be also created by this strategy.

Development of more efficient and sustainable electronic products will be promoted by the strategy. Federal agencies will be directed to buy, use, reuse and recycle their electronics responsibly. Apart from supporting recycling options, the strategy will also support recycling systems for American consumers. America’s role in the international electronics stewardship arena will be therefore strengthened.

Simple solutions like recycling of cell phones can be adopted by consumers to achieve sustainable consumption. In 2007, nearly 14 million Americans recycled their used cell phones. This information has been provided by USEPA. Energy conservation is facilitated with recycling and reusing consumer electronic devices like cell phones, PDA’s, chargers, and batteries. Reusable materials will be therefore kept out of landfills.

Precious metals, coppers, and plastics are used to make cell phone and PDA devices. Energy is required to mine and manufacture these devices. Approximately 7,500 pounds of gold can be saved by recycling 100 million cell phones.

SellandRecycle.com is offering consumers cash to sell their used cell phones. While offering some of the highest product payout, SellandRecycle.com is offering easy to use recycling and reselling services. At the same time, consumers can reduce waste by increasing product lifespan.
