JUSE Debuts Perpetually Powered Solar Nano Case for Smartphones

Ever wondered how awesome it would be if smartphones would never run out of power? Millions of people around the globe, especially youngsters, would have wished for something like this at some point in time.

Recent advancements made in the energy storage arena, especially in photovoltaic (PV) technology and Lithium Ion, has made it possible for one of the startup companies, called Juse, to create the first perpetual power case tailored for mobile devices.

Unveiled to the market through a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo, JUSE is a unique solar-nano case made from LithiumIon silicon graphene. Weighing approximately 400-500 Wh/kg, it collects energy from solar cells, stores it in a nano battery and charges the phone automatically.

Developed by a group of Ph.D. engineers and entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley, U.S.A., the Juse is designed to work even under low light conditions, due to its unique solar-nano integration. Featuring an acrylic PV protective layer of approximately 6.4 mm thickness, it is integrated with an efficient power management system that incorporates nanopower converter and proprietary MPPT (maximum power point tracking) software.

Flaunting a polycarbonate chassis, the Juse is actually powered by highly efficient crystalline silicon of 270 micrometer thickness and SiGr silicon graphene Lithium-Ion battery of 1550mAh capacity.

Talking to the media, Tom Lam, CEO of a new tech startup in Silicon Valley, said that power demands placed by consumers on their mobile devices actually exceeds the capabilities of batteries found in them. With increased use of apps, video conferencing, photos, GPS and calls, consumers are increasingly dependent on their devices. Hence, at some point in time, most of them relate to the problem of running out of power on smartphones.

Elucidating further, Lam said that the need for a device like Juse will be predominantly useful in developed countries because many people here are dependent on mobile devices heavily.

However, Lam cited in one of his statements that the bigger vision for Juse as a company is to supply the innovative device to developing countries where access to the grid is not as easy. With a belief that accessibility to information is essential to combat poverty, disease and oppression, JUSE hopes to be at the forefront of delivering power to the people who need it the most, like the people in developing countries.

According to sources, JUSE debuts its cases in North America soon. Interested persons can support and pre-order JUSE for Apple (News - Alert) and Samsung phones from their website.
