Latisys, a provider of hybrid cloud hosting and data center solutions, was honored with the 2013 Xcel Energy Recommissioning Achievement Award, in recognition of its implementation of airflow improvement methodology at its Denver data center.

Xcel Energy, a U.S.-based electric and natural gas company, asserted that its Energy awards honor Colorado-based commercial, industrial and small business customers who participated in its energy efficiency programs. The company formulated the Energy Recommissioning program to enable partners and customers to earn rebates and environmental credits via building systems that conserve energy and reduce operational costs.

Latisys’ Denver DEN1 data center is a 30,000-square-foot facility with redundant power and cooling as well as raised floor space specifically optimized for high-density deployments. Through its interconnected data centers in the U.S., the company offers cloud-enabled managed hosting and IT infrastructure services. And at its data centers, the company has been deploying highly advanced hot and cold aisle containment solutions tuned to exacting customer requirements to further improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs.

"Latisys is already established as a leader in enterprise grade IT infrastructure and hybrid cloud solutions,” remarked Jim Sack, chief executive officer at Xcel Energy. “Today we are pleased to recognize them for incorporating innovative cost-containment strategies and embracing an environmentally friendly approach to IT Infrastructure as a Service."

Pete Stevenson, chief executive office at Latisys, added, "Latisys data centers have always been built with the long-term view that the foundation of high-density computing has to be supported by efficient power and cooling design principles. This has enabled us to be smart about energy consumption while insuring a sustainable path for our customers as they deploy ever-changing technology within their IT roadmap. When we support high density rack environments with innovative, highly efficient cooling solutions backed by our high touch customer care model customers benefit from the knowledge that their solution can be supported well into the future."
