Honda Rolling Out Brand New Natural Gas Honda Civic

While more car buyers in the 21st century are looking at going green, Honda (News - Alert) is hoping that natural gas cars can be plenty popular as well. In order to offer something for those who aren’t selecting hybrids, the newest natural gas Honda Civics are going to offer all kinds of cool features. Cars that sync with smartphones and tablets are the new “it” feature and the new version of the Civic definitely falls into that category.

Among the bells and whistles the company says its new car will feature a 7-inch touchscreen that allows users to punch, swipe and tap to access audio, contacts lists and vehicle info. Navigation software will be accessible from this screen as well. The cars will feature the newest version of the HondaLink smartphone integration. The cars also feature the expanded-view mirror that works along with the LaneWatch service.

While there aren’t a ton of features that take advantage of the ever-growing popularity of the Internet of Things, the navigation system certainly qualifies as at least one feature that works thanks to the IoT. The newest natural gas version of the Honda Civic will hit the market in 37 states on February 15 and is expected to sell for around $27,400 per unit. There is also a $790 destination charge, which is more than double last year’s version.

That price tag (News - Alert) is still relatively affordable when talking about a car that offers techies quite a bit. The mileage for this car is also pretty good, though it is going to fall short of most straight up hybrids. In the city, the natural gas Honda civic will get around 27 miles per gallon and it gets 38 miles per gallon on the highway.

For those who want to feel as though they are riding with a bit more style, the 2014 natural gas Honda Civic will also offer a Leather Navi set that has leather seats, heated front seats, heated side mirrors and a six speaker top of the line stereo system. Civics coming with the Leather Navi will be about $3,000 more.
