Plantronics (News - Alert) (PLT), a company that deals in audio communications and wearable technology, recently announced that it has won the 2013 Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry at a ceremony at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. The officials from Plantronics said that interagency committee chaired by the State Department appreciated the company’s practices in employment, environmental stewardship, support of host-country technology and corporate citizenship at operations in Tijuana, Mexico.

Plantronics has been ranked as a “Great Place to Work” in Mexico. The company started various programs to support 2,200 of its employees in Mexico, the community and the environment. Some of them are educational support programs, anti-drug, alcohol and smoking programs, community volunteerism and others.

“Plantronics recognizes that our ability to consistently provide innovative products and excellent customer service is only as good as our people,” said Ken Kannappan (News - Alert), Plantronics president and CEO, in accepting the award. “Our focus on our people, giving back to our communities and being responsible stewards of the environment are central to our identity, our culture and our position as a leader in audio communications. This in turn allows us to create the remarkable performance our customers depend on. We do this in Santa Cruz, where we are headquartered, as well as every location in which we do business. We are very proud of our team at Plamex, our facility in Tijuana.”

Meanwhile, Plantronics announced that the Voyager Legend CS and RIG Gaming Audio System won the prestigious International Forum (iF) Product Design Awards 2014. The Voyager Legend CS was honored in the Telecommunication category, while RIG system was honored in the Audio/Video category. Plantronics has previously received iF design awards for the Voyager PRO Bluetooth headset in 2010 and EncorePro contact center headset in 2009. The iF product design awards have served as an internationally recognized trademark for outstanding design for 60 years. The iF brand is an established symbol of exceptional design achievement across the globe.
