SL Green Realty Corp., New York City’s largest commercial property owner, has selected Revolution (News - Alert) Lighting Technologies’ Seesmart brand LED tube lamps for the second phase retrofit at ten SL Green properties, saving $300,000 annually.
“Revolution Lighting is excited to continue its relationship with SL Green, delivering significant cost savings through advanced LED lighting solutions,” said Charles J. Schafer, president and chief financial officer, Revolution Lighting, in a statement.
Schafer said that SL Green’s continued use of the company’s Seesmart brand LED products reflects the growing market confidence in the LED industry, and Revolution Lighting’s capability to deliver leading LED solutions for the customers.
“Our ongoing relationship with SL Green demonstrates the strength of our distributors to deliver the strong customer pipeline we have in place heading into 2014,” he said.
“LED equipment impacts 90 percent of lighting lifecycle costs through energy use and lamp life, providing $7.4M in total lifecycle savings for SL Green,” said Jay Black, director of sustainability, SL Green.
Black said that LED lighting will continue to play a key role within SL Green’s energy efficiency program.
“The selection of Revolution Lighting allows us to stay ahead of the market in terms of technology adaptation offering high quality solutions through superior efficiency, longevity, warranty and exceptional customer service,” he said.
Earlier in March, Revolution Lighting Technologies, Inc. subsidiary Seesmart, Inc. was selected by office landlord SL Green Realty to retrofit more than 1,000 lamps at the 1.8 million-square-foot Viacom (News - Alert) corporate headquarters, 1515 Broadway in New York.
The largest commercial property owner in New York, SL Green installed Seesmart LED products in 21 of its other portfolio properties last year.
SL Green will install 1,100 Seesmart LED lamps in its headquarters. By replacing outdated lighting in constantly lit areas, including stairwells and mechanical spaces, the project will reduce energy use by more than 55 percent.
The new LED lighting will make the building more efficient by providing 50,000 hours or more of light, dramatically reducing lamp replacement costs over time.
In 2012, SL Green installed Seesmart LED lamps throughout 21 of its properties, saving almost $1.0M annually. The retrofit of 1515 Broadway marks a significant step in the integration of LED lighting throughout SL Green's portfolio.
