Lutron, a company that has invented hundreds of lighting control devices and systems, has announced that it has enhanced its HomeWorks QS total home control system, by adding energy savings features to it.
HomeWorks QS is built particularly for exclusive homes. This solution integrates the control of the interior and exterior, electric light and daylight. To improve the whole HomeWorks QS package, the company has now introduced RF SoftSwitch Module that eliminates the requirement for multiple devices. This new module has the capacity to switch large loads, like landscape lighting, pumps, and gates, without any wear on the relay.
In addition, this new module can switch an entire branch circuit of lighting, up to 16A, from Pico wireless remotes, system keypads, and smartphones. The company has confirmed that the new RF SoftSwitch Module will hit the market Oct. 15, 2013 and will be priced $149.
Also, the new 120V DIN Rail Power Module has been introduced by the company, that guarantees compatibility with the Lutron EcoSystem LED drivers and ballasts. This power module can control up to 128 zones and safeguards compatibility between LED driver and controller. It will start shipping Nov. 1, 2013 for $950.
With an intention to promote energy savings and make its HomeWorks QS system more flexible and robust, the company has introduced the new Daylight Control Package. This new feature enables HomeWorks QS system to conrtol light levels based on the controller (sensor) settings.
The company is currently offering this package for $900, and it comes with a power pack, daylight sensor, and LC8 controller.
“These new features significantly enhance the energy-saving features of a HomeWorks QS system,” says Rich Black, director, Residential Product Management and Business Development at Lutron. “It’s important to provide homeowners with a system that allows them to take advantage of the newest energy-saving strategies like LED control and ambient light detection.”
Lutron holds over 2,700 worldwide patents. In addition to the solid-state dimmer, Lutron innovations also include the first electronic dimming ballast for fluorescent lights and the first self-contained preset lighting control system.
