PowerSecure International, a utility and energy technology provider, announced that it will team up with Hometown Connections, a public power utilities advice and products provider, to help public power utility companies provide distributed generation, solar power, and outdoor LED lighting to its commercial and industrial customers during outages, according to a statement released by the two companies on Monday.
As a result of the partnership, Hometown Connections, which is a subsidiary of the American Public Power Association (APPA), will offer APPA member organizations a discount on all PowerSecure services and solutions.
“We are thrilled to join with Hometown Connections to expand our service to public power utilities,” Sidney Hinton, chief executive officer of PowerSecure, said in the statement. “Our distributed generation solutions provide on-site standby power and peak shaving capabilities to support utilities and their commercial, institutional and industrial customers.”
Tim L. Blodgett, president and chief executive officer, Hometown Connections, said that the company chose to partner with PowerSecure because “it offers advanced technology and round-the-clock support to customers in partnership with utilities.”
According to the company, PowerSecure tracks the status of more than 1,300 distributed generation systems across the country 24/7 from its command centers in North Carolina and Georgia for its utility partners, actively monitors load profiles and pricing in real time, and remotely activates units during peak demand periods. The system can utilize a variety of fuel sources, including diesel, natural gas and landfill gas.
