Polycom (News - Alert), Inc. recently announced that the 20th anniversary Earth Dialogues events of Green Cross International were streamed live via the company's advanced video solutions. More than 1,000 video participants were able to view, follow, and engage with world-famous speakers while also being able to share their own recommendations for a clean and secure environment. Polycom is a leading provider of open, standards-based UC&C (unified communications and collaboration) solutions.

In a statement, GCI (News - Alert) President Alexander Likhotal, said “Polycom’s support helped our organization convey important messages on sustainability, climate change, security, human development and the future of humanity. Thanks to Polycom, Green Cross was able to broadcast live a wide range of discussions by eminent speakers and experts on the major challenges facing the world today.”

Nobel (News - Alert) Peace Prize laureate and the former President of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, founded Green Cross International in 1993. The organization which focuses on establishing a sustainable future for humanity and the environment, organized the 20th anniversary Earth Dialogues conference at the United Nations on Sept. 3, 2013.

The students of the International School of Geneva held an interactive dialogue which offered schools across the globe an opportunity to carry out discussions with the cast of the musical, “2050: The Future We Want” via video. The video collaboration allowed students to openly discuss the musical in a bid to increase awareness of environmental issues while encouraging students to be more proactive in their efforts to secure a safe future for the planet.

Corinne Momal-Vanian, Director of the United Nations Information Service in Geneva, said "New media and technologies, such as Web-conferencing, allow international organizations to reach a much wider public and encourage greater participation by youth groups and other civil society leaders in the international forums where policies are being decided which will forge our common future.”

The event was streamed live via Polycom RealPresence video collaboration solutions. Polycom Platinum Partner Pointvue, systems integrator and a leading provider of video conferencing service solutions, provided and supported the video collaboration solutions from Polycom. The auditoriums, corporate meeting rooms, and personal workspaces at both venues, the United Nations and International School, were fitted with Polycom HDX series of telepresence systems to ensure HD video and sound quality.
