After implementing solar energy solutions for hundreds of commercial users in big-box retailer establishments, international company campuses, government organizations, and educational institutions, SolarCity (News - Alert), a provider of clean energy solutions, recently inaugurated its new operations center in Stockton, California.
This new center has created 70 full-time jobs for locals, who are assigned to handle sales, consultations, and installation services.
The new center is spread out in an 18,000 sq. ft. Stockton location on Arch Airport Road and was recently inaugurated in the presence of Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Stockton), California State Assembly member Susan Talamantes Eggman (D-Stockton), SolarCity employees and local customers.
In addition to adding jobs, this new center enables San Joaquin area homeowners and businesses to connect solar photovoltaic (PV) panels for free, and even pay less for solar electricity.
“Clean energy has reliably generated tens of thousands of family-wage jobs in our economy. The jobs that renewable energy companies such as SolarCity create motivated me to introduce the GREEN Act (H.R. 2368) in Congress last month to promote career and technical training in the clean energy sector,” said Congressman Jerry McNerney. “SolarCity’s decision to expand its business services in Stockton and to hire locally demonstrates that clean energy is the right way for our future, environment and economy.”
SolarCity offers solar power, energy efficiency and electric vehicle services, and makes clean energy easy by taking care of everything from design and permitting, to monitoring and maintenance. The company currently serves 14 states, offering renewable electricity directly to homeowners, businesses and government organizations for less than they spend on utility bills.
“Stockton is a focal hub for us to efficiently service the San Joaquin region and to meet the growing demand for solar energy. We are pleased to contribute to the local economy, help more homeowners and businesses make the switch to clean energy, and potentially save thousands of dollars on utility bills,” said Dennis Cox (News - Alert), SolarCity’s regional vice president of Northern California.
The company officials said that they are looking to hire16 additional full-time positions in Stockton.
