Report Shows Renewable Energy Project Growth in US

While there are certainly some who seem hell-bent on denying that the world needs renewable energy, others clearly strongly disagree. A new report has circulated that shows more than 12,000 clean energy and clean transport jobs have been handed out and announced in the first quarter of 2013 alone. Those jobs are spread out over more than 50 different projects. The numbers show just how important some companies and government agencies find the continued development of green jobs.

The report, from a group called the Environmental Entrepreneurs, said that energy efficiency projects such as solar farms remain strong in every part of the US. This strong standing is despite the fact that local governments who leaned strongly toward Republican worked to repeal clean energy standards. North Carolina was one state that actively worked against clean energy standards.

Massachusetts is one state that has embraced green energy tech. The state government put a $400 million program in place that was reported to have created as many as 4,100 jobs. These kinds of projects are often pointed to job creators, but the project is slated to save the state between $43 million and $250 million in annual energy costs.

California was the second most active state in the union when it came to these kinds of projects. The Golden State announced 12 different clean energy projects that are expected to create about 2,808 jobs. Indiana, a Republican controlled state, is third on the list of most energy efficient job creation. Indiana has three such projects that have created almost 1,700 jobs.

Among the projects that are getting the most attention, the study says that solar farms are gaining steam. The report also indicates that wind power is making a comeback. There has been a drop-off in the number of wind energy jobs coming into 2012, but more than 1,400 wind energy jobs have been announced for 2013.
