Constellation has partnered with Novar, a Honeywell (News - Alert) business, to avail its VirtuWatt Link Web services application on Novar’s Opus Building Automation System (BAS).

With this, retailers can now automate and expand load response participation in various sites and regions.

Energy management is an important part of business for energy retailers. Automated load response solutions often help them to manage their energy resources well and derive increased profits and save more energy.

The new partnership also allows Novar retail customers to participate in Constellation load response programs and control upgrades at more locations. Constellation’s VirtuWatt Link Web service connects to an existing controls infrastructure to enable automated load response participation.

VirtuWatt Link now couples with Novar’s Opus BAS and meter and allows users to achieve the required response times and level of automation performance. With the help of Novar’s Opus Building Automation System, national account operators can get various advantages.

They can also integrate VirtuWatt with any energy management or controls system that employs Web-based services.

Load Response is a set of solutions that can be brought together to save energy costs. It is highly useful for companies looking to reduce their energy costs. Load Response programs make use of different grid conditions to provide revenue and energy offsets.

It also takes care of sudden energy disruptions.

“Retailers face unique challenges when it comes to managing energy use for distributed sites,” said Gary Fromer, senior vice president, energy management programs, Constellation. “This offering allows retailers to incorporate load response as part of an enterprise-level energy management strategy without incurring a large, upfront capital expense or compromising business operations.”

Recently, the company announced that it invested an additional $450,000 to help the objectives of the Baltimore Energy Challenge and City Schools.
