Bicycles with a Greener Edge

As the world begins to embrace a green motto, the auto industry has especially joined the campaign with its promotion of electric cars that run off electricity and create less pollution than gasoline-powered cars.

Just as the auto industry tries to turn a shade greener, Polaris, a developer of electric motor drive systems and electric bikes, created a new line of electric bikes with innovational features for consumers who will be traveling to work or participating in sports activities.

The Polaris eBikes are premium eight-speed bicycles that are equipped with an electric motor and operate off a rechargeable lithium ion ProRide battery, similar to electric cars. The bikes can travel up to 30 miles on a single charge at an average speed of 20 mph.

Although there are other electric bicycles on the market, EVantage President Brandon Kaplan believes, “The difference between Polaris’ eBikes and competing brands is technological superiority. Polaris eBikes have been engineered from the ground up with the customer’s needs in mind first, from the frame to the DUODRIVE motor to BioSync pedaling technology to ProRide battery system.”

The Biosync Pedal Assistance Technology that has helped advance Polaris is a power management mechanism that reads the power output of a rider during the natural pedal motion. It then matches the output and gives the rider a helped nudge, producing the closest feeling to a natural bike ride.

Over fifty years ago when cars, buses and airplanes were developed, the standard of living changed and people were given more opportunities to travel, whether it was local or worldwide. However, people did not understand the devastating effects that transportation pollution would have on global warming.

Fortunately, thanks to the innovations and developments discovered by technology, companies like Polaris are better equipped with the tools needed to reshape their products to be environmentally friendly.
