Greenvity Communications added a new Hybrii-Mini GV7013 system-on-chip connectivity solution to its Hybrii family, as a cost-effective solution for consumer and industrial applications.

“The energy-efficient GV7013 Hybrii-Mini marks Greenvity’s entry into LED lighting applications, a market that is experiencing exceptionally high growth. The standard-based GV7013 offers all-in-one connectivity in a controlled LED solution that can enhance end-users’ lighting experience, enable energy savings and also reduce time-to-market for OEM/ODM customers,” said Hung Nguyen, president and CEO at Greenvity.

According to officials, the GV7013 is compatible with the HomePlug (News - Alert) Green PHY powerline communication (PLC) specification for smart grid applications. This helps deliver intelligent and controlled LED lighting over long distances, and is suitable for use in commercial, residential and public LED lighting applications, such as lamps, fixtures, panels and bulbs.

The GV7013 also enables two-way communication as required in outdoor lighting for controlled street lighting and digital signage applications.

The Hybrii-Mini PLC ensures longer range with greater coverage in residential applications and in building environments. It allows optimum communication even through multiple walls and floors with minimum signal loss.

The GV7013 is compatible with a HomePlug Green PHY international standard that makes smart lighting solutions with GV7013 interoperable with products like home gateways, routers and set-top boxes. The integrated GV7013 enhances powerline connectivity with data rates up to 9.8 Mbps, and uses OFDM technology across the 2 MHz to 30 MHz spectrums, giving greater noise immunity in a system.

Officials said the GV7013 chip integrates a microprocessor that helps with energy management and lighting control, while supporting interfaces like SPI, UART, I2C and PWM to control LED power drivers and LED chips.

The GV7013 architecture and software enables LED light control for dimming and color-tuning in iPhone (News - Alert) and iPad mobile devices.

The Hybrii-Mini chip works optimally over a wide temperature range of -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C and is hence suitable in low power industrial and consumer applications, like in solar inverters, smart meters, and home automation and battery chargers for electric vehicles.

Recently, Greenvity Communications joined hands with Mitsumi Electric to provide modules and systems for electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, battery-charging systems, smart meters and smart energy management systems.
