Power-One (News - Alert) unveiled its next-generation LPM616 family of products. The series includes modular 1600 Watt AC-DC power supplies delivering a power density of 18 Watts per cubic inch, with an extra low 1U profile.

The company manufactures energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions for renewable energy, routers, data storage and servers, wireless communications and optical networking.

Officials explained that the LPM616’s modular architecture offers great flexibility, high power density and comes in a rugged package. Although the new product series retains the major features of the exiting LPM615 family, some modifications have been added, including the AC input via terminal block, new support for AC input up to 440Hz, and support for the DC input voltage range of 120VDC to 380VDC.

The device will also deliver an increased power output ranging from 1,500 Watts to 1,600 Watts, with full load operation over a wide temperature range of -20 to 50oC, added officials.

The new products are most suitable for industrial, test equipment, Datacom and COTS military applications. They satisfy the need for rapid prototyping and where specific voltage and current specifications are given.

The power supply features six slots that can offer six outputs when configured with PCB-based output modules. The LPM output modules deliver about1600 watts of total power from a 150 VAC input, and 1300 Watts from a 100 VAC input.

To provide sufficient cooling, air is forced with airflow direction from front to back by internal fans.

When the LPM616 device is used for applications with less than the six-slot capability, blanking plates are provided for safety. The power supply units will be delivered with pre-set default output module settings.

They can also be customized according to a customer’s desired output settings.

Recently, Power-One launched its 450W and 700W High Efficiency Power Supply/Battery Back-up units for use in next-generation, high-efficiency servers and data centers. The Power-One power supplies – SPAFCBK-02G (450W) and SPAFCBK-03G (700W) – have been designed based on the Open Compute Project specifications.
