Tweddle Groups 'Rave' Over New Mobile Apps in Toyota Rave4 EV

If the proof of the pudding is in the eating, the proof that infotainment systems are hot news in the auto market is well depicted in the Toyota Entune, which is built on the Tweddle Connect platform that enables infotainment and vehicle services using the driver's mobile phone.

But with consumers and automakers looking for compelling solutions for connecting mobile apps with the in-car driving experience, Tweddle thought it was a good time to introduce some rather exciting mobile apps, and worked in conjunction with Toyota Motor Sales to achieve this.

The result was visible in the recently concluded Los Angeles Auto Show, where Toyota Rave4 EV exhibited its new acquisition of apps, much to the delight of the visitors.

What made the car unique and one to watch was the range of in-car apps, which are reportedly exclusive to electric vehicle drivers.

Tweddle Connect hogged the limelight once again with the Seattle-based connected services division of the provider of automotive solutions for OEMs playing an important role in the designing of innovative apps, which were the envy of many.

"Tweddle Connect brings together applications, content, services and technologies in a seamless way, empowering Toyota drivers with the most exciting automotive app experience from within and away from their cars," said Andy Tweddle, CEO at Tweddle Group.

So what's special with these new EV apps? For starters, they move well beyond the base five and information applications that appear to be currently in vogue. They also offer a greater connected experience for eco-savvy drivers, allowing them to interact with their vehicles on a new level.

Drivers can now monitor the charge state of the vehicle and invoke a charge cycle remotely whenever it’s plugged in at a charging station. If drivers find it hard to locate one, it provides a charging station map, and better still, navigates them easily to the one they want to go to.

The apps also issue alerts when the vehicle is not plugged in to a charging station when turned off.

With easy integration with a social network, the apps deliver live assessments of fuel economy and efficiency, notify drivers of optimal temperatures in the car, and helps him/her locate the vehicle through the vehicle GPS chip.

So what will we see next from the Tweddle Group? Will they take the automotive world by storm?
