Geist, a designer and manufacturer of technology and software for powering, cooling, monitoring and managing critical data center infrastructure, released the new GBB15 and GBB15 POE self-contained environmental monitoring units.

Geist explained that from temperature to humidity to airflow, its climate sensors monitor critical environmental conditions, and its climate monitors capture and track critical environmental data in secure areas.

The new units are packed with on-board temperature, humidity and dew point sensors that aid in the monitoring of climate and its potential to affect critical data center equipment.

According to Geist, the GBB15 is a self-contained unit with on-board temperature and humidity/dew-point sensors. It has an input capacity of four external sensors and it allows users to keep an eye on remote conditions from a secure Web interface and receive SNMP, e-mail and text message alert notifications when user-adjustable thresholds are exceeded.

The GBB15 POE is equipped with "Power Over Ethernet," removing the need for access to A/C power.

Both GBB15 and GBB15 POE can be deployed to monitor temperature, humidity and other environmental parameters in a variety of applications including IT, telecom, healthcare and food supply. They are both are compact solutions weighing less than half a pound and sized to fit in a 1U space at 5.25”L x 1.75”H x 1.5"W – perfect for tight installments and have an operating range of -25 to 185 degrees Celsius.

Geist has also released the GTHD and the GT3HD climate sensors for remotely measuring temperature, humidity, and dew point.

Said Brad Wilson, executive vice president for Geist: “These new additions to our monitoring product line make it simple to incorporate a network of sophisticated monitoring capabilities to protect a data center without a huge price tag (News - Alert).”
