The White House’s, inspired “Green Button” initiative, promising to enable customers to make informed decisions about energy, has found an active advocate in CustomerIQ, Silver Spring Network's award-winning, customer engagement solution.
Featuring an interactive web portal, CustomerIQ is expected to deliver near real-time energy insights and help utilities provide detailed information to customers about energy usage, according to company officials.
“Our support of Green Button continues Silver Spring’s commitment to open, standards-based networking and innovation to enable a dynamic and thriving smart grid ecosystem,” Matt Smith, senior director, demand-side management business at Silver Spring, said in a press release.
These insights are expected to deliver in user-friendly formats via the web, mobile devices, e-mail and in-home devices. Customers will also be provided with weekly e-mail reports.
By accessing data regarding energy usage, consumers will understand and control their energy use. This will not only support the government initiative, but reduce the impact on the environment and help users save money.
According to Secretary Steven Chu, developing applications and services to help consumers monitor and manage energy consumption is ripe for American innovation.
Furthering its green initiative, Silver Spring Networks participated at the Power to The People event on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Newseum in Washington, DC. It presented a Google (News - Alert) Earth-based demo, highlighting multiple smart grid applications.
Other news reports that Bloomberg (News - Alert) New Energy Finance announced Silver Spring Networks was named a 2012 New Energy Pioneer. The Bloomberg New Energy Finance Pioneers program identifies companies from around the world that are changing the energy landscape. An independent panel of industry experts from banking, academia, corporations, utilities and technology providers chose the honorees by assessing them against three criteria: potential scale, innovation and momentum.
