AeroVironment has announced that the company has been selected as an additional authorized and approved nationwide supplier of EV home charging systems, on-site installation services and support for Mitsubishi (News - Alert) Motors North America.

Apart from a leading three-year warranty on both parts and installation labor, AeroVironment’s turnkey solution includes its UL-listed home charging station, permit acquisition, installation, customer training, 24/7 customer service. EV drivers can order their charging station and schedule its installation from AeroVironment, a pioneer in the electric transportation industry for more than 20 years with a single telephone call, the company stated in a press release.

“Automotive manufacturers like Mitsubishi are blazing new trails in clean transportation and delivering EVs that are more accessible to a wider population of drivers,” said Tim Conver, president and CEO of AeroVironment, Inc. “AeroVironment and Mitsubishi Motors share a vision where EV drivers enjoy a positive transportation experience that includes a full ‘tank’ at the start of every day. We look forward to working with Mitsubishi Motors to achieve that vision.”

To pre-order the 2012 Mitsubishi i until April 19, 2012, Mitsubishi Motors is waiving the $99.99 site consultation for the first 2,000 customers. Apart from costs related to installing an electric refueling system, the on-site home consultation includes an analysis of current electrical wiring capacity, recommended station placement and a full breakdown of activities.

Also, apart from an account for both electrical and building requirements in local areas, AeroVironment’s trained and certified installers secure necessary permits, take into account specific homeowners’ and renters’ unique requests.

Recently, the company signed a license agreement with Sentient that allows AeroVironment to distribute Sentient's automatic target detection software for full motion video for use with small unmanned aircraft systems.

Sentient's Kestrel Land MTI (News - Alert) Tier I is specifically designed to enable automated detection of targets, in real time, from small UAS. Over the past 18 months Sentient and AeroVironment have optimized and integrated the software with AeroVironment's existing common Ground Control System, which serves the Puma, Raven and Wasp small UAS.
