Imagine being able to cut down the frequency of trash collection trips by 80 percent…does that sound too good to be true? Well, Eco Green Site Solutions has good news for trash collectors because it has been deploying the BigBelly Solar-Smart Grid trash and recycling systems to Connecticut schools, towns and cities.
BigBelly, according to company officials, is a solar-powered, cordless trash compaction system. These devices are equipped with innovative technologies that help departments to effectively manage their trash and recycling operations through any web-enabled device.
Tony Giordano, the sustainability coordinator at Eco Green Site Solutions, said in a press release, “A live status of how full or empty each device is will be sent to an online database for the entity to manage.”
Living up to its name, BigBelly can hold up to five times the trash that an ordinary trash container can and it uses only solar energy to compact the trash. Not only does BigBelly have a generous disposition but is easy to maintain, cost-effective, reduces the frequency of collection trips, reduces overheads and keeps the environment clean and healthy.
Many schools and cities in the state of Connecticut are utilizing the BigBelly-Smart Grid system for their waste management. The trash compaction Solar system has been featured in several magazines, including New York: The Best in Urban Global Design.
In addition to supporting the renewable energy campaign, Eco Green Site Solutions has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to help plant trees in the nation's forests that have been damaged by wildfire, disease, and insects. It is a part of its ongoing commitment to support the environment and leave a positive footprint on the planet.
