Xatori Launches GreenCharge App for iOS to Measure Real Time Data for Electric Vehicles

Xatori, which builds innovative software for electric vehicles (EVs) and an electricity grid, has launched its second product, GreenCharge, which is currently available on Apple’s (News - Alert) iOS.

The app allows users to see real-time battery data and check their actual power usage as well as share with friends the environmental and economic benefits of owning an electric vehicle. For now, GreenCharge is available on the iPhone (News - Alert), iPad, and iPod touch devices for $9.99, which is the average cost of charging an electric car for a week.

Forrest North, CEO of Xatori, was earlier the founder and CEO at Mission Motors and an engineer at Tesla Motors. North explained, “I've talked to too many people who have been confused about the benefits and operating costs of an electric vehicle. We built GreenCharge to let EV owners understand their cars and educate others on the true environmental and monetary benefits of driving an electric vehicle.”

GreenCharge is a multi-purpose utility that electric vehicle owners can profit from. With this app, users can easily sync data with a compatible electric vehicle such as a Nissan LEAF or Chevy Volt. It is also the only available app that connects driving data with local energy pricing to provide personalized data about the cost of operating an electric car.

In addition, users can get real time charging, battery, and range information about their electric vehicles, as well as see their daily, weekly, and monthly driving broken down by mileage and price. There is social media aspect to this too. Users can share their daily, weekly, and monthly driving information on Twitter and Facebook (News - Alert), or via email.

Most importantly, users can see how many pounds of CO2 emissions they have offset by driving an electric vehicle instead of a gasoline vehicle and thereby compare savings as opposed to a traditional gasoline vehicle.

Xatori’s other flagship product is PlugShare, the largest electric vehicle charging network in the United States. PlugShare has over 12,000 users and the network includes over 1,500 private outlets shared by PlugShare members as well as over 1,000 public charging stations.
