Bright Automotive Requests Congress and Media to Help Spur Development of Alternative Energy Technology

Bright Automotive, a Midwest hybrid electric vehicle manufacturer, wants its loan application filed under the Department of Energy's Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing (ATVM) Program to be processed quickly so that it could act upon President Obama’s State of the Union blueprint for U.S. jobs and alternative energy technology leadership.

Bright Automotive is an Indiana and Michigan-based company that manufactures IDEA, a new, plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) fleet vehicle achieving breakthroughs in platform efficiency. The vehicle is said to have the potential to strengthen American companies, move the nation toward energy independence and reduce CO2 emissions.

The company also delivers eSolutions that offers premium client services along the entire automotive value-creation chain. It helps original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers become more competitive, profitable and sustainable.

The company claimed that there are anxious customers ready to buy its vehicles, with half of its customer base small businesses – the growth engine of jobs in America – which will save thousands of dollars per vehicle every year.

The loans Bright would receive under the ATVM program could enable it and other automotive manufacturers to lead America towards energy independence, better national security and an improved environment and creating thousands of American jobs in the process. This is the President’s proposal and Bright is ready willing and able to accept that.

Bright asserted that it believes that it is not enough to be green environmentally, if one is not green economically. Its IDEA vehicles are capable of saving thousands of dollars in fuel costs and for a large enterprise that manages hundreds of vehicles that would mean savings exceeding a million dollars or more every year.

Officials with the company noted that their business plan has been thoroughly vetted by the government since submission in December 2008 and they have received tremendous bipartisan support from legislators in Indiana, Michigan and across the country. That support has helped them get the ball into the red zone, but not yet into the end zone.

Germany, China and elsewhere are investing in the advancement of proven technologies and United States should do that too if it wants to regain and retain its manufacturing base and competitive edge. And Bright stands ready to deliver American advanced technology developed and built by Americans.
