Increased Demand for Energy Management Drives Record Growth for JouleX

JouleX announced significant achievements for 2011, including revenue growth of over 420 percent over 2010 and the addition of 80 new customers. JouleX is a leading provider of solutions for enterprise energy management for data centers, distributed office environments and many other types of facilities.

Many companies worldwide are establishing sustainability initiatives, and JouleX is poised to take advantage of this demand. JouleX provides solutions to address the energy that IT infrastructure wastes during idle periods or down time. Its agentless, network-based system provides visibility across an enterprise concerning how all network devices use and consume energy. With this visibility, companies can then implement autonomous control policies to reduce waste and energy usage throughout their IT infrastructure.

One of the company’s new clients is the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. “Because energy has fast become such an expensive operating cost for our university, we wanted to focus on key areas with the biggest potential for energy optimization, such as our IT infrastructure,” said UMBC’s vice president of IT and CIO Jack Seuss. “With JouleX Energy Manager, we can now measure the energy consumption and utilization of our entire IT infrastructure.”

The energy management company secured a major boost last June when it received $17 million in investment capital from a wide variety of investors. The company used the capital to expand its footprint and development opportunities in worldwide growth markets. The company opened six new sales and support stations worldwide and expanded existing operations in Atlanta, Germany and Tokyo.

Another significant boost occurred last year when the company earned three industry awards. British Telecom awarded JouleX its Success for the Future Award for Green Economy, and Red Herring (News - Alert) extended a Top 100 CleanTec Award to the company. Industry research leader Gartner, Inc., also named JouleX a “Cool Vendor” in Green IT and Sustainability.

Other successes included products launched for enterprises last year, including JouleX Energy Manager for PCs, JouleX Energy Manager for Distributed Offices and the JouleX Energy Manager for Data Centers. The company also launched a dedicated Energy Manager for Cisco (News - Alert) EnergyWise and signed a global sales, marketing and development agreement with the company.

Company spokesmen claim that enterprises using JouleX technology have reduced their energy costs as much as 60 percent. “Seeing things as they could be rather than as they are is the starting point of our innovation,” said president and CEO Tom Noonan. “Extraordinary demand can be created by the combination of creativity, innovation and quality.”
