Eltek Valere Selected By European Wind Farm for 30 DC Industrial Power Systems

Eltek Valere (News - Alert), the leading provider of high-efficiency (HE) power solutions for telecom and industrial applications, is going to play a significant part to create a greener future for Europe.

The Drammen, Norway based company has reportedly won a major contract from European offshore wind farm located in the North Sea. The contract, according to the company, represents a significant milestone for the company’s industrial power division, one of the company’s most important and fast growing segments.

“This contract represents a significant milestone for Eltek Valere’s industrial power. Power utilities is a key market for us and renewable energy is an important part of our overall mission to focus on technology for a greener future,” said Lars Dousa, Eltek Valere’s executive vice president responsible for industrial power.

In a press release, Eltek Valere announced that the contract requires the company to

supply 30 DC industrial power systems to the wind farm. The Eltek Valere power systems were chosen because they are fit for working in the harshest of conditions. The company has a long history in supplying power solutions for control of power generation, transmission and distribution equipment, including renewable energy. It also has presence in renewable markets, such as photovoltaic grid inverters and chargers for electric vehicles.

Each windmill installation will have both a 24V and 48V DC power system and auxiliary system to power emergency lighting and emergency escape route lighting systems, the cathodic corrosion protection system, the loading crane on the maintenance platform and the radar container.

“This project will be an important reference for future wind farms. Around the world there are many wind farm projects, both onshore and offshore, that will require sophisticated and highly reliable power solutions. We have the products, the expertise and the global network to support those requirements,” Dousa added.

Earlier this month, the company announced receiving two contracts in Italy for the solar inverter systems Theia PV Power Station, the first orders for this new solar product line. The total contract value is NOK 21 million and includes shelters with approximately 11 MW solar inverters.
