GreenHouse Partners with IC Systems

A leading provider of energy efficiency and sustainable facilities solutions, GreenHouse Holdings, Inc forged partnership with Irvine based provider of industrial monitoring and wide area network (WAN) monitoring equipment, IC Systems.

In a press release, GreenHouse revealed that the GreenHouse subsidiary Control Engineering, Inc. (CEI) discovered IC Systems while researching cost effective design and implementation alternatives for one of GreenHouse's Auto-DR clients Apogee Containers.

Under the partnership, the companies will jointly deliver a variety of systems and solutions including communications and controls equipment. The solutions are designed to improve the financial and technical feasibility of Automated Demand Response projects for the Southern California Edison (News - Alert) (SCE) and their customers.

GreenHouse explained that the Auto-DR program offers significant financial incentives and technical support to Southern California Edison customers willing to install equipment that enables participation in demand response events versus depending on their employees to perform all the curtailment activities manually when required.

The partnership is expected to provide GreenHouse with cutting edge technology and software, as the company ventures to take Auto-DR to new markets and customer segments. IC Systems' Smart Grid Technology provides industrial (open source) hardware with universally accepted power industry protocols allowing customers to take advantage of SCE's Auto-DR program, GreenHouse explained in the press release.

Under the terms of the agreement, GreenHouse becomes the exclusive distributor of IC System’s smart grid applications within the SCE territory. The partnership will enable GreenHouse to expand its menu of automation and monitoring components designed to drastically minimize the work disruption that can be a result of implementing Demand Response measures.

“There is no doubt in my mind that this partnership will take both companies to previously unforeseen new heights. We created GridLink AutoDR(R) for precisely the same reasons Carlos (Carrillo, Vice President Engineering at GreenHouse Energy / CEI) contacted us in the first place... drive as much of the technology efficiencies and benefits to the consumers as possible,” President of IC Systems Doug Sheldon noted in a statement.

Earlier this month, GreenHouse Holdings announced that, along with its partners and subsidiaries, it is poised to take advantage of a market expected to grow by 500 percent over the next 10 years.
